Blog EntryKitchen Renovation - Part 1Jun 16, '08 4:02 PM
for everyone

Oy...what a mess!  Mr. Fuzzy and his brother have begun tearing up the kitchen for a renovation.  They took down the wall between the living room and the kitchen so we will have an open floor plan.  The space already looks much bigger.  The old floor tile has been removed.  What a job!  The tiles were laid on steel mesh.  I guess the original owner wanted them to be there forever.  There's dust everywhere!

The new cabinets should be here in a couple of weeks so now I'll begin emptying the cabinets so the old ones can be torn out in time for the new ones.

I hope we're still together when this is all over.

So you're eating in nice restaurants while all this is going on? Or perhaps ordering pizza for delivery? Maybe Mister is putting steaks and thing on the barbecue in the back yard every evening until it's done?

I hate kitchen remodels. We did ours a couple of years back. The house does not function well without a kitchen.
Good luck!!!

Lucky you! Don't worry about the dust, just think how it will look when it's done.

I never mnded when my now ex put in a hardwood floor and we had to do without a stove for a while. Our fridge was in the dining room and the kids loved it.
It was a great time to do some cleaning that needed done in the kitchen and I never knew how bad it gets under the fridge and stove and on the side of the stove. We replaced the stove too with one of those smooth tops and it was a great selling point when we sold for our divorce. I was lucky enough to get one in this place when I bought it. Woo Hoo!
I hope to see pics when all is said and done?

My stove is a glass top too and I love it. So easy to clean.

I can totally relate-when we retired and moved here we had to redo the whole house. all the "unseen" stuff is done like moving plumbing, redoing electric etc., but we have all of our stuff in the house in boxes so when we do a room we are re moving and going thru stuff. We are going on 5 years now-and I wonder some days if we will ever get our house done so we can enjoy it.
I lived with no stove or oven for over a year-so I learned to cook just about anything in a slow cooker, and I went back to cooking and baking most of our meals outside over a fire or in weber grill.
I have my big stove in place, but no cabinets yet-hoping this year Larry will be able to make my cabinets.-have fun-hugs
